Product Introduction

Titanium-clad copper cathode hangers, also known as titanium-clad copper cathode beams or cathode conductive beams, are core bimetallic composite components in cathode suspension systems for hydrometallurgical electrowinning and electrolytic refining processes. They integrate the dual functions of high-current conductive transmission and cathode plate load-bearing suspension. The product utilizes a highly conductive pure copper core and a corrosion-resistant pure titanium outer layer, fully encapsulated through metallurgical-grade bonding processes such as explosive welding and hot-rolled diffusion composite bonding. Both ends of the hanger are machined to expose copper conductive tips, ensuring low-resistance and stable power transmission in contact with the busbar surface of the electrolytic cell. The hanger body can be welded with titanium lugs and positioning slots to enable simultaneous mounting of multiple cathode plates. Unlike traditional pure copper hangers, which suffer from rapid corrosion, high wear, and easy electrolyte contamination, titanium-clad copper cathode hangers significantly extend service life, prevent copper ion precipitation contamination, and maintain stable low contact resistance over a long period. The product is widely used in the electrowinning and electrolytic refining processes of non-ferrous metals such as copper, zinc, nickel, and cobalt, serving as a core conductive component for reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs in electrolytic production lines.

Product Features and Applications

Product Advantages

01/

Integrated conductive and load-bearing structure with dual functions: One rod simultaneously undertakes the functions of high current conductive transmission and cathode plate load-bearing and suspension, replacing the traditional "conductive copper busbar + hoisting structure" split solution, simplifying the structure inside the tank, reducing contact points, and lowering the overall contact resistance and installation and maintenance costs.

02/

Optimized end design for lower conductivity loss: Both ends use exposed copper conductive ends to achieve surface contact with the conductive busbar of the tank, which greatly reduces contact resistance and contact voltage drop; the voltage drop is lower and the temperature rise is smaller under high current operation. Compared with the titanium layer direct contact solution, conductivity loss is reduced by more than 30%, resulting in significant energy saving.

03/

Customized mounting structure with excellent adaptability: Titanium mounting ears, welding seats, positioning slots, bolt holes and other mounting structures can be customized according to the specifications, quantity and spacing of the cathode plates, perfectly adapting to various cathode plates such as stainless steel cathode plates and titanium cathode plates. The finished product can be directly hoisted into place without the need for secondary processing on site.

04/

Full titanium layer protection, ultra-long service life: The working area of the pole is fully covered with titanium layer, which completely isolates the acidic electrolyte from contact with the copper core. Its corrosion resistance is more than 10 times that of pure copper poles. The welds are sealed with titanium material, eliminating the risk of corrosion and leakage, greatly reducing the frequency of downtime and replacement, and providing significant advantages in overall cost throughout the entire life cycle.

05/

High rigidity and low deflection, stable and reliable operation: The bimetallic composite structure combines the toughness of copper and the strength of titanium, with excellent bending rigidity. When multiple plates are hung over a long span, the deflection is minimal and there is no obvious bending deformation, ensuring uniform cathode plate spacing, stable electric field distribution, and improving the thickness uniformity and quality yield of electrolytic products.

06/

No impurities are released, ensuring product purity: The titanium layer has stable chemical properties and does not react with the electrolyte during the electrolysis process. No copper ions or impurity ions are released, and the bath solution system will not be contaminated. This can stably ensure the purity of electrolytic products such as cathode copper and cathode nickel, and avoid quality degradation caused by excessive impurities.

Professional Consultation Q&A

Q1: Will the exposed copper at the conductive terminals be corroded by the electrolyte?

A1: No. The conductive ends are located on the conductive busbars on both sides of the tank, above the electrolyte surface, and do not come into contact with corrosive media. Therefore, the exposed copper material ensures low contact resistance and eliminates the risk of corrosion. The entire working area of the rod immersed in the electrolyte is fully covered by a titanium layer, and the welds are also sealed with titanium material, completely isolating it from corrosive media. There will be no corrosion or leakage problems during long-term use.

Q2: Can it be directly adapted to our existing cathode plates and tanks?

A2: Absolutely. We support full structural customization. We can customize the size and spacing of the conductive terminals according to the size of the conductive busbars and the width of the tank. We can also customize the position and form of the titanium hanging ears and positioning slots according to the structure and hanging point spacing of the existing cathode plates. The finished product can be directly hoisted into place and used without modifying the tank or electrode plates.

Q3: What is the difference between a titanium-clad copper cathode rod and a regular titanium-clad copper cathode rod?

A3: The core differences lie in functional positioning and structural design.

● Ordinary titanium-clad copper cathode rods are primarily designed for conductivity and are mainly used as conductive rods or hanging rods, without any dedicated load-bearing or end-cap design.

● The cathode hanger is an integrated conductive and load-bearing component. Both ends are specially machined with exposed copper conductive ends to ensure low-resistance contact. The rod body can be customized with hanging ears to hang multiple cathode plates. It has stronger bending rigidity and load-bearing capacity. It is a dedicated core component of the cathode hanging system of electrolytic cells and directly replaces pure copper conductive hanger beams.
